JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Data Architect, you turn complex data challenges into scalable, future-proof solutions. You act as the strategic bridge between business vision and technical execution, designing the architectures that help clients unlock, trust, and scale their data for analytics, AI, and innovation.
You work in an international, client-facing and dynamic environment. One moment you’re leading a discovery workshop on-site; the next, you’re collaborating remotely with engineers, consultants, and domain experts across different time zones. You translate business objectives into clear data strategies and architectural designs that deliver measurable results.
Your scope spans the full data landscape, from modeling and storage to integration, governance, and security. You ensure data remains reliable, observable, compliant, and cost-efficient at scale. You guide implementation teams, define architectural standards, and make informed design decisions that balance innovation with pragmatism.
As you grow, your influence expands: shaping our architectural vision, strengthening CI’s internal practices, and helping clients mature their data ecosystems. You’ll join a team of sharp, international colleagues who value expertise, collaboration, and a healthy sense of humor. You report to the Service Line Manager, Decision Intelligence.
Skills & Expertise
You bring a strong architectural foundation and the technical depth needed to design scalable, secure and high-quality data solutions. The essentials we look for:
Solid experience with modern data modeling (star/snowflake, 3NF, Data Vault where relevant) and storage formats such as Delta/Parquet.
Strong hands-on knowledge of cloud data platforms; ideally Azure (ADLS, Fabric, Synapse, Databricks) or Snowflake; experience with AWS/GCP is a plus.
Ability to design and oversee ELT/ETL pipelines (dbt, Airflow, ADF/Fabric), including streaming patterns (Kafka/Event Hubs).
Understanding of data governance, cataloging, lineage, security-by-design and GDPR-compliant data handling.
Advanced SQL and working proficiency in Python or Scala for data engineering patterns.
Architectural thinking: ability to define data product boundaries, document designs clearly (C4/ArchiMate), make traceable decisions, and apply cloud well-architected principles.
Who are we looking for?
ARE YOU THE ONE?
A Data Architect who combines deep technical expertise with strong consulting and communication skills. Someone who enjoys shaping solutions, guiding teams, and helping customers move forward with confidence.
You bring:
Several years of experience in data architecture, data platforms, or enterprise architecture within complex and ideally international environments
Technical depth in modern architectures such as data mesh, lakehouse, event-driven patterns, and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
A strong understanding of governance: data management principles, security, privacy regulations, and frameworks like DAMA or DCAM
Consultative strength: the ability to lead workshops, ask the right questions, and translate business needs into actionable designs
- Strong stakeholder management skills: you move easily between engineers, architects, business leads, and management
Architectural leadership: you define standards, guide technical decisions, and help teams deliver consistently
A future-focused mindset: you spot opportunities for innovation but know when a practical approach is the smartest route
Fluency in English is required; proficiency in German and/or Dutch is a strong plus, given our international and cross-border client landscape
- Embed quality by design: performance, reliability, security, observability, and GDPR-compliant data handling are standard in your work
- Hybrid working is part of the role; flexibility to work from the office and at client locations is required, and a valid driver’s license is essential
